Coffee in the United States is served by three kinds of places: national chains with drive-thrus and mobile ordering, independent neighborhood cafes that double as a workspace or a meeting spot, and specialty shops that roast their own beans or buy single-origin lots and brew them by pour-over, espresso or cold brew. Most open between 6 and 7 a.m. on weekdays, slightly later on weekends, and the busiest hour is the commute rush before 9. A drip coffee runs a few dollars, espresso drinks and specialty pours more, and tipping a dollar or a percentage on the card reader is customary but not required. Nearly every cafe offers free Wi-Fi, though some limit laptop seating at peak times or on weekends, and outlets are often the scarce resource.

Durham is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Durham is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across North Carolina's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

The restaurant has a great atmosphere with a blend of modern aesthetics and traditional food. I came in after doing the American tobacco trail for 22 miles on bike and was starving and ready to eat. The restaurant didn't leave me disappointed. I got the pork schnitzel with gravy, anchovies and eggs. The main critique is that the flour is unseasoned, the pork is unseasoned and the gravy is also unseasoned. The critique is minor though since the tables have diy seasoning with salt and pepper and it fixes the dish and makes everything amazing. My side dish was the chicken + okra soup and it was very hearty. Loved the broth. Not a fan of okra usually but they prepared it quite well and I ate all of it Beach bum coffee was excellent as was the wine. Both compliment the food excellently but if I ordered only one next time, the coffee was better. It was a very satisfying meal and I ordered the chicken sandwich to try the next day. It had an excellent crisp even after registration, the bun was excellent and the sauce worked well with the chicken. Excellent german restaurant, the food is top notch and after a good workout the food left me satisfied and happy with life. Would definitel

The Spiced Tofu Sandwich was fantastic! crispy on the outside, packed with flavor, and paired perfectly with the crispy, golden fries. The Smashed Avocado Benedict (ordered without eggs) was equally delicious. The avocado was creamy and generously spread, topped with juicy roasted tomatoes on perfectly toasted bread. The fresh bread basket deserves a special mention. The assortment of artisan breads was outstanding, crusty on the outside, soft and fresh inside, and the raspberry jam was the perfect accompaniment. We also loved the buttermilk pancakes. They were incredibly fluffy, light, and served with fresh berries, making for a simple yet delicious breakfast.

We found this restaurant completely by coincidence while driving through North Carolina, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. Don't let the line outside intimidate you. It moves surprisingly fast because you order and pay first, then find a table while the staff brings your food to you. The process is very efficient, so the actual wait is much shorter than it appears. The service is outstanding. Everyone works quickly, efficiently, and with a genuine focus on providing a great experience. Despite how busy it can get, the operation runs smoothly. The food is fantastic. While the menu stays true to its German roots, there are subtle Southern influences in some dishes that create a unique and enjoyable fusion. One of the standout features is the bakery, which is connected to the restaurant and produces many of their baked goods in-house. Being able to walk right into the bakery from the restaurant is a great touch. There is plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. The outdoor area is spacious and dog-friendly, while the indoor dining room is comfortable and welcoming, especially during the North Carolina summer heat. A special mention goes to the Honey Bea

Iβm proud to call this a piece of my hometown. Iβve sadly never been since moving away but was delighted to stop in for brunch. They have house made specialties and seasonal items. Everything is freshly made from their bakery to the bar and food. Indoor and outdoor spaces with light and airy vibes, rustic and home-like interior. It can get very packed and busy but they are efficient with the ordering process. Itβs truly a gem!

I read the good reviews on Google and decided to give this place a try for breakfast. I ordered the Eggs Benny on brioche with thinly sliced extra smoky ham and it was tasty. I liked it a lot more than Canadian Bacon. Our table also had the sausage and potato omelet, some fries, a pancake and thick cut bacon. Please show some love for decaf coffee folks and keep a hot pot available. Mine was lukewarm at best.
